Hotel

The Forum will be held at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines in La Jolla, California. Surrounded by stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and the legendary Torrey Pines golf course, the Hilton provides a first-class atmosphere both inside the meeting and out.

Attendees are responsible for making their own hotel reservations. A block of rooms has been reserved at a special conference rate of $189. Reservations must be made by January 15, 2006, after which the block of rooms will be released to the general public.

Please mention the group code, FOE, or Forum on Earth Observations, to get the group rate. If you are a government employee, there are a limited number of government rates reserved; you will be asked to show credentials upon check-in.

Please be advised that guests who need to change their check-out date must notify the hotel before or at the time of check-in. Failure to do so will result in a $50 penalty.

The Hilton provides hotel guests with complimentary transportation to and from the hotel to La Jolla village and Del Mar. Self-parking at the hotel is $16 a day; valet parking is $22 a day.

Travel

The Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines is located 15 miles from the San Diego airport. From the airport, shuttle service and taxicabs are available to get to the Hilton. The travel time is approximately 20 minutes depending on traffic. A shuttle costs between $10-$16. Shuttle service is available at the Transportation Plazas across from Terminals 1 and 2, and curbside at the Commuter Terminal.

A taxicab will cost between $45-50, and the cabs are located in the Transportation Plazas. Most cabs accept major credit cards upon request.

This community prides itself for being "one of the most beautiful destinations along the western coastline." Visitors can play on the beach, shop in the boutiques, and enjoy many different types of cuisine offered by the local restaurants. Del Mar is located about five miles from the Hilton, and the Hilton's complimentary transportation will take guests to and from Del Mar.

Even in February, we expect nice weather in California! The average high and low temperatures in February are 67 F and 51 F, respectively.
